Guransh is also known as Lali Guransh in Nepali and is the national flower of Nepal. The common name is Rhododendron. One of the most enchanting natural spectacles that occur in Nepal during the months of March and April is the rhododendron blossom. The flowers fills up the entire hill giving a mesmerizing view.
In Nepal, the flower is considered edible and enjoyed for its sour taste. The pickled flower can last for months and the flower juice is also marketed in recent years proving its healthy and organic aspect. The flower, fresh or dried, is added to fish curry in the belief that it will soften the bones.
Guransh is used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of conditions, including bronchitis, cough, rheumatism, and inflammation. They are eaten in traditional Asian, European, and North American medicine.
